I've done than a 1000 battery cycles. Everything else is fine

Only getting 4-5 hours usage on battery now on average.

Anyone done a diy battery upgrade?

I’ve changed the batteries in multiple MacBooks. They’re easy to do, the hardest bit is scraping the glued in tape out when removing the old battery.

1000 cycles is low though, my 2014 pro had a replacement battery at 3500 cycles and the new one got up to 2500 before I replaced it with a new M1 MacBook

Have a 2013 Dual core with an SSD and about a year ago the SSD started playing up.
Had the Battery and SSD replaced and the performance increase was unbelievable.

Maybe obvious to many others but kept on getting high CPU for no obvious reason when lightly using the MAC, tracked it down to a cluttered desktop, cleaned it up and the performance benefit is unreal.

Two-weeks in, so far so good.

I see it as a temporary measure before getting a new Mac.

Spend a ton now, spend a bag later (c.18-months)

Just had my 2016 MacBook Pro serviced and it’s running Big Sur now. It’s like having a brand new unit - bloody brilliant; I’ll be investing in a disk upgrade and new battery this year as the processor and other elements are apparently worth it.

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro - battery died about a month ago.

Bought a new battery (& tools) from the below vendor and fitted myself.

Fiddly as fuck but very satisfying.
